The
Jane Addams Peace Association (JAPA) is the 501(c)3 educational
affiliate of the Women's
International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), founded
in 1915 with Jane Addams as its first president. Jane Addams was
the first American woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize, which she
received in 1931.

WILPF
International
The
Women's International League for Peace and Freedom is the oldest and
largest women's peace organization in the world. Founded in 1915 by
women who met in the Hague, who were organizing to stop the ravages
of war in the midst of World War I. WILPF has been working ever since
to end war and to cultivate a lasting and just peace.
WILPF International is headquartered in Geneva,
Switzerland. Our offices are directly across from the United Nation's
Palais des Nations.

United Nations Office
The
Women's International League for Peace and Freedom's United Nations
(WILPF UN) office is located in the same space as the JAPA office.
WILPF
UN is staffed by a Director and by a number of project interns. The
two main projects of the WILPF UN are Reaching
Critical Will and Peacewomen.
Both of these exciting and important projects address the role and
special needs of women, and represent women's concerns in a wide variety
of international disarmament, security and related fora.
